From 30 August to 1 September the UN was in town for their 63rd annual meeting with NGOs. Two thousand delegates from 70 countries and over 300 NGOs participated.
Highlights included:
- The conference declaration calling for the world to put health and well-being before profits and military expenditure
- A call from the floor for a debt freeze for Pakistan – supported by acclaim by the delegates
- Four roundtables, 55 workshops, dozens of releases from NGOs
- Hundreds of tweets making a million impressions.
