This year’s $25,000 L’Oréal Australia & New Zealand For Women in Science Fellowships will be awarded next Tuesday evening at a Ceremony at the newly opened Jardin Tan at the Melbourne Botanic Gardens Observatory.
This year’s Fellows are inspiring young women, tackling problems in diverse fields of science.
And they’re not alone – this year 186 applications were received for the Fellowships, which are judged by a panel of eminent scientists – and it’s always a tough decision.
Angela Moles, a past L’Oréal Fellow who joined the judging panel this year had this to say about the applications “What a fantastic load of people! I really enjoyed reading the applications – learned lots of fun things along the way.”
The L’Oréal Fellowships are designed to further the Fellows’ research to keep women in science through the ‘difficult years’. The funds may therefore be used for any expenses they incur, including childcare.
The Fellows will also speak with hundreds of schoolgirls at forums in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
The program is part of L’Oréal’s global support for women in science.
